Unless You’re a Cookie Company, You Don’t Have a Cookie-Cutter Business…

I was in a meeting a couple of weeks ago about a project CODEMAY is working on (more on that project as it develops, but it’s exciting), when one of the people in the meeting, a PR strategist, commented on how much he liked our website and what we do for our clients. It wasn’t the words of his comment that made me happy, it was the fact that the comment itself was an independent verification of what we here are CODEMAY already know is a part of our company’s DNA: We take the time to listen to our clients, and provide strategies based on their needs.

The individual had never worked with us before, and decided he wanted to see our work compared to other web-development & digital marketing companies out there. He compared us to a few larger agencies, and some smaller boutique ones, and he recognized that each of the other agencies were about fitting a business into an existing strategy. The websites were all essentially the same, the digital marketing was the same, and the individuality of  the businesses were be lost. Each of their clients were put in the assembly line and made to market the exact same way. When he looked at the work we have done, as well as the testimonials from the many people we’ve been fortunate enough to work with, he noticed the overall theme was about listening. He commented he liked that each site was unique, and that each really spoke to the individuality of each brand.

That brings me back to the title of this article: “Unless You’re a Cookie Company, You Don’t Have a Cookie Cutter Business.” Whether you’re using low-cost website solutions, or paying for an expensive agency that’s just going to put you onto their assembly line of products, the simple fact remains: you are in business because you’re different than what’s already out there. You got into your business because you felt you could offer something different than what everyone else is offering. That’s where we come in. CODEMAY exists because we felt the same way you did when you started your business. We saw what was out there, and we didn’t like it. It doesn’t matter if you’re a yoga instructor from Laguna Beach, a high-end boutique fashion brand from Amsterdam or even a gluten-free, paleo-friendly sauce-maker from Portland, you are unique and we have solutions to fit your unique situation. We’re about partnering with you to work out the best way to build your brand.
